Virtual Boyfriend Karamatsu (VR)

a very short little wholesome VR dating sim aimed at women and any other people who want romance sim content in a sea of male-oriented coomer games. this one in particular is focused on karamatsu matsuno from the anime osomatsu-san. it was made in the span of about a month for the class IAT 445 at SFU by myself, fiona mccauley, and jeremy yan as our first deep dive into developing in unity as well as for VR.

FAQ:

• why does he say "karamatsu-face cookies" when there aren't any?
  we ran out of time to model them bc they were low priority compared to making it actually functional :(
• why is the face animation so... weird looking and jank?
  oh god don't get me started. i learned blender and greasepencil JUST for this project and originally did gpencil animation for the face only to find out it's extremely difficult (i.e. completely unsupported) to export to unity and as a last minute solution we just. manually made some janky textures at the last minute and threw together a script to cycle through them. it's cursed, but better than nothing at all!
• why is the model moving like That.
  blender to unity pipeline being awful strikes again! i really tried. if anyone knows about it in detail i beg you to hmu because i was fighting for my life for this project. rigify to unity somehow irreversibly obliterated all my weight painting lol. so the whole thing gets warped to hell and back as if there are no bones (permanent bendy bones!) and i wasted so many hours trying and failing to fix it
• why do you like this karamatsu guy so much
  his ass fat (i find him deeply relatable in being cringe yet free after growing up deeply insecure and wearing outrageous clothes people think are crazy is his way of expression. he is such a silly dramatic lovable dork also his ass fat)
